I am a sixth grade math teacher at a private school in Miami, Florida. We are going to begin block schedule this fall, but only for the sixth graders. Our school is from 3 yr. olds to 12th grade. We still consider 6th grade elementary school. Iam excited and yet nervous about switching over to block the schedules. It is important the students do very well in math. I am concerned about meeting less per week , but having more class time pleases me. Do you have any suggestions for me on how to make this program successful.
My supervisor is very concerned about the math program falling behind due to meeting less. We know it will help our language art teacher and the science teacher, but we are concerned about the kids completing all the objectives by June.
