I was going to respond personally to the e-mail address of the person who
wrote the post about the book Reviving Ophelia, but accidentally deleted
it, so I hope you get this. Reading that book and also School Girls by
Peggy Ornestein had a big impact on me too. I wondered how as an art
educator I could address the problems of adolescent girls, and came up with
a DBAE approach which I tried out this summer at the YWCA Girls to Women
program, a gang intervention program. It would take too long to tell all
about it here but post me if you want to hear more about it.
Also, thanks to all who responded to my Still Artists? post for all the
encouragement and good advice.
