I am not a high school art teacher but, I do teach elementary school
so I thought I might have some helpful ideas.
The way I weave all of the disciplines together seems to work real
well for me. I base each of my lessons on a piece of artwork, artist, or
culture from the very beginning of the school year. At the beginning if you
want to concentrate on each element of design, you simply choose a piece
that strongly uses each element and base your studio project on that.
Students can then be exposed to fine art, see the elements at work, and then
create their own artwork that uses certain elements a lot. This might to
simplified for high school I'm not sure, but I though I would share an idea!
