I am very interested in the grading discussion. Yes, this is also
one of the hardest things I do.
At the high school level, I have based grades on % and explain it on
a pie graph.
It may look like too much work, but it's easy with a spreadsheet.
10% for sketchbook work
25% for projects
25% for tests (two per qtr)
40% for participation
I designed it so it would be very hard NOT to pass the class. I
found that this works to help the
behavior problem student to monitor his own participation. I will
propably drop it as it also
makes a student that does not want to improve, fail. I am interested
in what other methods you
all have used or might suggest.
