Thanks to all of you who responded to my questions regarding middle

I have one more question. What other electives are offered at your
school and are they all offered for the same amount of time? i.e. are
all courses one trimester long or are some one year long, etc.

Thanks again for taking time to answer...especially in the middle of

How often does your curriculum connect with other subjects (i.e.
history/English, etc.)
Curriculum was written to correlate with other subject. Also each
year, a
specific subject is targeted to boost SOL scores.

What are the art requirements for your school? None

Do you have an art club? No

Do you assign homework such as sketchbook projects or...?
No homework in 9 week exploratory classes; minimal homework in grade 8
semester elective; Sketchbook work and special projects are assigned in
Art 8.

What grades are included in your middle school? 6, 7, and 8

Does the curriculum build upon preceding years or is each year
independent of the others?
Yes - scope and sequence established for all grades

Do you participate in competitions and/or exhibits outside of school?
Annual citywide art show, participation in Audubon Art Show and Airport

Are you public or private? Public

How do you assess? Grades are based on effort and participation in 9
exploratory classes. For advanced students, I use rubrics, self
group critiques, etc.
