[teacherartexchange] A few questions

#1) I'm about to teach art for a week at a Christian summer camp (and it is
expected to be an ART class...not cookie-cutter type crafts)- grades 3-6.
I thought a cool way to approach the class would be to introduce Christian
artists. I know many artists did religious work because the Church
commissioned it, and not necessarily because they were religious people.
I'd rather focus on artists for whom their faith and their art were truly
connected. Suggestions?

#2) I'm also making the switch from secondary art to elementary art this
year. I'd like to build a classroom library. I need suggestions for
books, though. I would like some "how-to" type books that are tried and
true, and also some children's books ABOUT art or artists. I know there's
one where some mice play in some paint and discover how to mix colors as a
result...but I don't know the title or author. I want some story-type
books so I can connect reading to my curriculum. Can you guys give me the
names of some books your students like?

#3) Because I'm teaching Elementary for the 1st time, I'm a bit nervous
about ordering supplies. I've never taught this many kids (approx 400),
and I'm also not sure about the most age-appropriate items. Would anyone
be willing to send me an example of their elementary ordering list? (You
can send it to me personally - off the Getty list) I would just like a
general guideline - so I don't feel so completely overwhelmed.

Thanks!
