I need some suggestions from all those great brains out there. I realize
some of you are just in the middle of your summer but some of us are
starting school on Monday! My school always has themes and I try to
structure many lessons around the theme. Circus, space, western, under the
sea, etc.. were pretty easy. This year they decided to combine some things
and have a habitat/environment theme. The slogan is "Living and Learning
at LaFrance" I thought of doing different environs like jungle,
ocean, etc. and Susan from Long Island gave me some great suggestions for
using landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes.. since those are art habitats. I
pick 9 table artists to hang above each table and focus on through the
year. I try to use not real obscure artists but also not just the same
"big names" So far I was thinking of Winslow Homer (loved the 1st grade
sailboat lesson posted recently!) Grandma Moses, Georgia O'Keeffe, Claude
Monet,Rousseau, maybe Marc Chagall.. what others can you think of? Some
one who did lots of cityscapes or western art or space? Not limited to
painters either. I would be ever so grateful for some ideas. I'm making a
power point to play on open house to introduce the new artists for the
year. thanks for any ideas!
