Art Budget

Date: Fri Jul 23 2004 - 20:14:18 PDT

My art budgets have varied a great deal from school to school over the years.
The first year I taught, my principal told me we I had $500.00 for the entire
year with 600 students. My current school is much better. You realize this is
also 12 years later. It seems to depend on the tax base for your school
district and in particular HOW much your principal values your art program.
Sometimes it takes a few year to "prove" this (unfortunately) to your admin. I order
what I want. Not from the district "warehouse" either, which usually has
crummy, supplies (generic crayons, etc) Our district curriculum guide states that
$3.00 per student is OK, but I think I end up spending about $5.00- $6.00 per
kid. I replace the consumables - crayons, markers, paints, clays, glazes, oil
pastels, etc. and try to add one permanent 'extra' for the room (Drying rack was
extra this year) If you would like to ask any more ordering/materials
questions email me at -
