Re: First days- HS Art I

Date: Thu Jul 22 2004 - 07:10:42 PDT

I'm with you, Kara when you say, "I want my students to start creating
the minute they walk in the door." I feel that way for Lower School
students too. They are so wired up for getting their hands on the new
supplies, DOING something. Except for my brand new 2nd graders every
year, all of my students have been in my room before and know the
drill/where things are/how to act. No glazed over eyes for me this
year. My own eyes glaze over when I spend too much time laying out the
whole year/behavior rules/expectations, etc. period after period for
three days in a row of first day classes. If I can't stand it, why
should they????
