I used Lascaux Cave paintings, the first painters as a kindergarten lesson
last year...really more appropriate for students a little older. There are
several picture books about Lascaux one is called "First Painter". I liked the
idea of using that because the french are very proud of Lascaux and it was not
impressionism or any other ism.

I work in a world language magnet school. Our languages are Spanish and
french, so I try to focus a lot on those particular cultures. Also you can do
Hatian art...and I believe West Afrcan countries, Cote d'Ivorie, there are others
can't remember off the top of my head....etc. Laos is also a french speaking
country...I think I saw some things about Laos in the latest Crizmac catalog.

Good Luck!
