Elizabeth,
    That's a great opportunity for you!! Not that you should JUST do
sports art, but there have been some fabulous sports/art ideas banterred
around lately and in the past. I am thinking of one that is silhouettes
of action sports figures (one in each painting and filling the space.)
The background could be any kind of abstract color theory thing you
would wish to incorporate. It could be pattern, radiating colors,
graded washes, whatever. They would be bold and impact from a distance.
I saw something like this from someone in this group or maybe in
Artsonia. But you get the picture, probably. Since basketball season
is later in the year, you could have your kids draw sports figures on
location in a variety of sports in the fall, or split them up. Tennis,
football, track, etc. Or you could photograph sports in action and use
the photos to help them draw the silhouettes. I can see them on really
large paper. Maybe two kids work on one together?
