I don't know if elective teachers receiving only 1 period off is against any 'law', but I would have the union look into it. In our district if you 'volunteer' to teach more than what the core teachers teach you get compensated for that extra period, but that was negotiated by our union.

        I wondered what typical school MS sched. were for some of you. Weve gone to an 8 period day, core teachers with 2 periods off and electives with only 1, 45min
  planning. Was at a yearbook training conf. one teacher in our district says that
