Quite a few people have been asking for details about the Texas Art
Education Association conference. This should answer your questions, but if
you have others, please email me off list.

Those of you from out of state who wish to attend, you may use the American
Starfile number (listed below) for discounted air and use the TAEA Fairmont
Hotel room rate discount. For either discount, state that you are attending
the TAEA conference.

If you pre-register for the conference, register as a guest and pay that
fee.

I hope to see you in November.

Pam
===========================================

The TAEA pre-conference newsletter is almost ready to go to the printer.
You should have the newsletter in your mailbox by the end of August or early
September. Please contact TAEA Executive Assistant Judy Shimp at
Judy@dondillon.com if you do not receive your newsletter by the first weeks
of September.

More members than ever before have sent presentation proposals for this
conference. There will be an abundance of workshops, presentations and
off-site events. Your biggest problem will be deciding which event to
attend at any given hour.

The conference co-chairs urge you to pre-register for the conference.

REASON 1:
Most of the off-site events for the 2003 conference are free-of-charge, but
REQUIRE registration and a ticket to attend. Almost every off-site event
has a maximum capacity number of 20 participants. Those who pre-register
for these events will be assured of a space.

REASON 2:
All of the for-a-fee events have a maximum capacity of 20 - 30 participants.
For example, if you want to enroll in a half-day technology workshop, take a
pinhole camera workshop, learn about lost-wax casting or take guided tours
of the Dallas Museum of Art, you will need a ticket. These for-a-fee
workshops range from $3 - $20.

REASON 3:
Pre-registration is discounted. The price to register on-site is more
expensive.

American Airlines is giving discounts on travel. AA is offering 5% off of t
heir lowest published airfare to Dallas or 10% off full coach fare. An
additional 5% discount is offered to those members who book 60 days in
advance of travel. RULES: You must reference STARfile #31N3AC and state
that you are traveling to Dallas for the TAEA conference. In addition, at
least ten TAEA travelers must book AA for everyone to get the discounts.
Use your travel agent or call 1-800-433-1790.

If you are flying in to DFW or Love Field, you can reserve the Super
Shuttle, catch a taxi or rent a car. To make a Super Shuttle reservation,
go to their website http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/dfw.htm Super
Shuttle or cab fare will be about $20 - $25 each way.

The Fairmont Hotel is providing rooms (singles or doubles) at $125 a night
and all-day parking for $5. The Fairmont will not offer better rates online
or through the 800 reservations system. Regular room rates start at $199 a
night. TAEA requests that you please take advantage of this specially rate
and book your stay at the Fairmont as soon as possible. In addition to this
great rate, the Fairmont Hotel pledges to rebate up to $5,000 to TAEA based
upon the per-night stays that members book. When booking your room, call
the hotel directly at 214-720-5290 and state that you are a TAEA member who
will be attending the November conference. By booking at the Fairmont, you
not only have the convenience of being on-site, but you are in the heart of
arts district of Dallas within walking distance of many super attractions.
