The very very best classroom management tools is to learn students' names
ASAP!!! I use seating charts and assign seats before school starts. That way,
even if I don't know a child's name (now days I only have to learn
Kindergarten and the students at my other school) I can look at the seating chart and
call that child by name rather than have to ask.

I also say their name and shake hands with them as they leave. People are so
amazed that I remember all the names I do ( I know not as many as some of
you, but well over 400). Parents are also impressed when I walk down the hall
and call their kindergartener by name. It also makes children feel a part of
our school family. It takes a village and all that!!!
