As you well know, some elementary kids NEVER finish a project. I have a
hard time putting up work that is not finished, but sometimes I do. I
figure that they might decide to work harder/faster next time. I watch
the group to see when most of them will finish and then I give notice
that it is due in the following class or two. I don't get really
serious about trying to MAKE them finish until 3rd grade. I let them
come in during recess or after school. Sometimes I call their parents
and discuss their work rate and work out a deal where the parent will
come in with the child after school to pick up the project and materials
to finish at home. I guess it's the ADD in some of them, bless their
hearts. Some of the BEST artists are BEYOND slow. I want to see those
pieces finished!
