I wish i had the talent to turn my art in to big money too sometimes,
but not at the expense of growth, freedom, originality, creative
expression, pleasure, and statement. I made close to ten thousand
dollars one year selling my ceramics. I pondered whether I should quit
teaching and devote full time to my art. BUT...it got to feel like a
JOB, and it stopped feeling like art to be that busy. So, I decided in
the end that I had a pretty good balance if I took off work all summer
and just made art all summer while still being paid by school! And now,
if I sell my art, which I do, but not steadily, it's gravy towards a
vacation or something nice for the house, etc. It felt very different
to me to mix up high paced production with making art. But at least
most artists DO evolve, which is the point someone else made about
Kinkade..."he has not changed in a decade."
