Breanne,

A few years ago I visited the elementary schools in North Attleboro, MA. The
super there really wanted teachers to work together and integrate subjects,
making connections. The only teachers who took him up on it were... you guessed
it, the art, music and phys ed. teachers. They went into all the curricula
and planned their lessons to use the "core" curricula in their lessons. The
greatest lesson I saw was the circulatory system played out in gym and then
fabulous paintings of it in art. Supers change and others come and the music
teachers who spearheaded rhis left and I don't think it's going anymore. But I saw
real integration, real working together. Some of the "classroom" teachers
bought into it, the others just treated it as their prep periods and couldn't have
cared less.
