Hi Everyone,
Thought I would share this idea with you. Are you familiar with the Peter
Sis book (elementary level) Tibet: Through the Red Box? It tells the story
about Sis' father, a photographer who was lost in the Himalayas for almost 2
years. Sis created this book from his father's diary found in the "red box," from
childhood memories and from stories his father told him on his return. The
original illustrations in the book and other books written and illustrated by
Sis lends itself to some terrific art projects (water colors, conte crayons,
pastels, etc.). connecting with the other academics, such as geography,
history, religion ,etc. Lots of material there. He is an international
award-winning artist, writer and filmmaker and is worth looking into. Jill
