Re: Crayola Crayon maker....

Date: Thu Jul 25 2002 - 11:59:05 PDT

This is a little off-the-cuff message regarding crayon makers...but I have
used a warming tray covered with aluminum foil (mostly for the protection of
the tray itself) and let students put their paper on top of the tray (two can
work at a time) and color with left over pieces of crayons from their
collection of crayons. What results are the most fantastic and brilliant
colors you could possibly imagine. The only downside is 1) you might have a
student ...possibly...burn themselves, although on a low setting it is almost
impossible and 2) the color tends to crack once it dries...somehow I can't
help but think this might be a good method of creating batik patterns on
cloth...but I haven't tried it out yet...
