Find Lesson Plans on! GettyGames making a checker board

Date: Wed Jul 24 2002 - 19:42:51 PDT

You are all so fantastic...someone asked me to share my checkerboard
responses and what I finally decided to here goes.

Many people thought I should mask off or make templates of the
squares.....WAY TOO MUCH WORK!!!! <g>

One idea I loved and had planned to do was use a sponge stamp and stamp the
squares! I WAS GOING TO DO THIS!!! (see below!)

Another idea I got...and liked...was to use watercolor markers and then spray
clear spray paint to set.

What I did....because when I went to the craft store I had to get other
things too and forgot to get the foam to make the squares for the stamps (I
tried to get kitchen sponges but the place I stopped didn't have them and it
was very poor planning on my part...blah blah blah) in the end...they
painted the squares with a brush...and they didn't look too bad and they are
so proud of them! They can't wait to paint the checker parts, varnish the
boards and have our checker tourney! Shame on me for not thinking they could
do it!!!

Thanks for all your help!
