???? re: making a checker board

Date: Tue Jul 23 2002 - 15:13:13 PDT

I am doing a medieval crafts class this week. I am having my students (1-3
grade) make a checker board on real wood. For some reason...I was in denial
about my little ones being able to paint those squares....I thought if I just
showed would be NO PROBLEM! hehe

Well....I am doing this lesson tomorrow...yup...and have snapped to my senses
not a moment too soon! Any one have any ideas about putting color on wood
that is clean and easy? I am leaning toward paint pens.......what about oil
crayon? Any other ideas??? I thought about smashing some blueberries....but
then thought I might need my head examined!

Thanks a bunch!!!
