REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS:
PUBLICATION ON INTERDISCIPLINARY ART EDUCATION
RESTON, VA (July 22, 2002)—The NAEA Professional Materials Committee requests
publication proposals addressing interdisciplinary art education. Proposals
may be for an anthology or single-authored book, although other forms of
publication may be considered. Prospective authors/editors should read the
recently completed flyer on interdisciplinary arts education, Authentic
Connections: Interdisciplinary Work in the Arts, created by NAEA with the
Consortium of National Arts Education Associations and available on the NAEA
web site at www.naea-reston.org/news.html.
Sections of the proposed publication might address some or all of the
following:
o Defining interdisciplinarity
o Models for interdisciplinary curriculum
o Aligning interdisciplinary learning with National Standards
o Criteria for and examples of high quality interdisciplinary curriculum
units
o Resources and conditions necessary to support interdisciplinary learning
o Assessing student learning from interdisciplinary curricula
Proposal packages should follow the format found on the NAEA web site under
Writing for NAEA at www.naea-reston.org/publications-writingfornaea.html.
