I send all my students work home Spring Open House in the students portfolio.
That way, I know the parent really got it, all in one piece. Have you ever
seen what a first grader does to their artwork if allowed to take it back to
class? Folded, crumpled and other wise mutilated before it gets home! I want
to make sure the parent can see and appreciate the hard work the student put
i nto the art. I do have a few small pieces that I allow kdg and first to
take home. These would fit in their take home folders and get home in one
piece.
Also, having the students work available open house night allows the parent
to come and see me if they have any questions or comments. It's usually the
only time I see most parents. Janet
