Having hunting rifles in art?

We are in the north country where a lot of hunting goes on i.e.. deer,
moose, bear and duck hunting. A lot of my students(mostly the boys) put
rifles(not guns) in their art.
Should I say this is/was inappropriate to a student? your thoughts.. I have
mixed feelings about this one-
