Gotta jump in here. We also have a pond. What started out
to be raised beds as the front yard, ended up with my
husband and I looking at this great gaping hole,
saying....this would make a great pond...and so it became.
He has taken all of the downspouts from the house and
'plumbed' them to the pond, so the water is constantly
changing when it rains, there is a 'bubbler', and plenty of
water lillies, water hiacythyns and about 35 fish which
includes catfish, sun fish, koi, and a big group of 3rd
generation of fish from 2 original dime store gold fish.
Pizza delivery guys and any other delivery persons are
amazed when they come up to the front door and are greeted
by the fish...who by the way survive on diet cat food...and
mosquitos. The pond has enhanced the ecology of our yard
tremondously. Between the birds, fish, deer, chipmonks, and
frogs...it's a jungle out there!
