I have my 5th and 6th graders keep a sketchbook. They do all preliminary
drawings in them, keep notes on artists etc, as well as occasional creative
assignments. It's also a great tool to use when they are finished with a
project. A grade is taken on their sketchbooks for the quarter as a major
assignment. At the beginning of the school year, I take orders for a hard
bound black sketchbook...for about $6.25. If they want they can bring in
their own or use a folder with paper in it. Some have brought in binders
with paper in it too. It works well, saves my supplies too.
