When I had the Highschool ceramics class for five years I would not let them
call each other
names such as "fag" etc because I felt it was demeaning to all people - those
hearing it and those being called it. I often asked them who designed their
clothes
and often it was a designer who was a homosexual. they didnt't want to
discuss
that - because they felt the clothes were cool - their peer group said so. I
asked
how can you admire the design of the designer but not be respectful of the
designer.
I didn;t say accepting but respectful. Didn't say much more as I fear
parents wrath
and I had one go round with a parent in front of the principal - HS - and it
was two against one and do not want to repeat that ever again. Did not have
HS last year
and I am so happy with my sweet elementary kids!!! all Roberta
