I didn't see that warning (which doesn't mean much--I don't know what's happening outside of my artroom most of the time--ha) but I'd GUESS that it might be related to older *metal* mini blinds..... The plastic ones I'm replacing aren't too terribly old--just broken up (can't figure out why...) and so I think they'd be safe. Also, as I'm shortening the new ones (a real pain to do...) I've got a bunch of new slats, too.

Bunki, your ideas are terrific!!! I'd thought about the weaving, too (was trying this in my living room to the amusement of my cats and dogs....) but love the color "wheel" idea. I'm not sure how well they'd accept paint, but I'll give it a try!
