hoever posted this site--thank you--There are scores of poignant paintings by
many, many artists, some of them renowned, like Thomas Hart Benton and Peter
Hurd. Also, I was able to catch and tape[ at 2a.m. this morning] the PBS
program, They Drew Fire. It told the story of WWII through the eyes and words
of 7 of these artists, their fears and anguish as they fought, drew and
painted. I pretty much was in tears throughout the hour show. Their stories
were personal, their artwork reflective and interpretive. The program also
enlighented and reminded me of how the military and the media feel about the
importance of recording what happens in war, not only with photos but through
the interpretive eyes and talents of visual artists--this will make an
excellent unit --I hope others got a chance to see this show.
