I am new to the field of art. I started college with the intentions of
going to medical school, becoming a pediatrician, and living happily
ever after...My desire to go on to med school started to waiver during
my sophomore year, and by this past fall, the beginning of my junior
year, I discovered that what I really want to do is become and art
therapist and work with children who have cancer. I've done a lot of
research on the topic and have contacted several schools, but I would
also like to speak with some people who are currently in the field, and
maybe get a taste of what it's really like. It's one thing to read about
something, and another to experience it. If anyone knows any art
therapists, or is one themselves, I would love to hear from you. I live
in the Hudson Valley region of New York (about 2 hours north of NYC), so
it would be ideal to talk to someone relatively close by. Thank you and
I hope to hear from some of you soon.
