Hello to all!
I teach art and enrichment in a small town in Connecticut. I'm
interested in doing a combined unit about Japan featuring Hinamatsuri
(doll's day...) and Children's Day. We have a mandate toward
multicultural education, although I like to coordinate art of other
cultures with units of study anyway. I think it's close to impossible
to teach about a culture that I'm not really familiar with. I'm looking
for whatever suggestions, help or guidance anyone might have to offer
about either of these two celebrations. I have accessed the Getty site
and found great resources about Japanese art that will get me through a
good ways. Any experts out there? Anyone been part of either of these
celebrations before? Thanks, Merrilee
