New Online Art Course - Earn Continuing Education Credits

The Getty Education Institute and Arizona State University are offering a twelve-week online course this spring called Artworlds Online. It will take place via e-mail and the Web from Feb 15, 1999 to May 14. We invite you to sign up and participate.

The Registration Deadline is February 15, 1999

The course was developed by Dr. Mary Erickson and Dr. Faith Clover of Arizona State University, and they will be your teachers this spring. Artworlds Online is an opportunity for you to:

* develop strategies for enriching your students' learning in and through art
* expand your Internet skills
* learn when it's convenient¯without commuting or taking time off
* earn three continuing education credits from Arizona State University

Why Should You Participate?


* learn approaches to finding the best information about art on the Web
* obtain tools to integrate art into social studies, history, and language arts
* develop relationships and share insights with fellow educators from around
the country and the world!

Who Is Artworlds Online For?

You! Artworlds Online is ideal for art teachers at all grade levels and teachers who want integrate art and social studies, history or language arts. The course is designed for busy people who would like the convenience of learning from their own homes on their own schedule using the Internet.

How Do You Participate?

It's easy. If you can read this e-mail message and have access to the Internet, you can participate in Artworlds Online. No special hardware or software are needed to take part.

* Assignments and readings are online¯you will be given the Artsworlds Online Course Materials Web address (URL) when you enroll.
* Discussions and submission of assignments take place through a private e-mail discussion group only available to course participants. We'll send you instructions when you sign up.
* Assignments are due weekly, but otherwise, participate whenever it's convenient for you.

You must have ready access to a computer with a modem, Internet browser, and e-mail capability and know how to use them. Familiarity with Internet search engines is also a must. Any Internet browser and e-mail program will work. Count on spending between two to four hours per week using the computer.

How to Register

You must register by February 15 for Artworlds Online through Arizona State University, which offers three continuing education credits for completion of the course. You may register in either of two ways:

1) submit your registration information online at

Then mail in your $98.00 course payment to ASU with your check or your VISA or MasterCard information. Or you can fax your credit card information to ASU. (ASU does not take credit card information online.)

2) print out the online form (at and mail it with your $98.00 course payment to ASU with your check or your VISA or MasterCard information. Or you can fax your registration form and credit card information to ASU.
