need advise/painting

Greetings!!

In your opinion....what medium would you advise a college level
adult(with no painting experience) to start with...oil, acrylics or
water colors?
Did I phrase the question correct?

What sort of tips would you offer, paint brands, books, etc...any
information will help alot!!
