Regarding the integration of art and other subjects, at the beginning of
this school year I wrestled some texts (readers, social studies and
science) off teachers at various grade levels for a few weeks. I was
able to page through them and find units that would lend themselves to
integration. I discovered that our readers were designed for easy
integration; they even feature photos and bios of the illustrators.
Then I gave some teachers lists of lessons of which I'd like to be
alerted when they came to them. It's annoying that they don't come to
me as an equal more often, but it still benefits the students greatly
when we get these units synchronized.
