Kristin, I did a lesson with my 8th graders last semester involving the
internet. They all chose an artist and researched the information on the
internet. They had a guide for the information they needed to include in
their report. They also chose at least one image that they saved to a disk.
After collecting their information, they used Word, Works, or Publisher to
create a paper about their artist. After this, they created a Power Point
presentation about their artist. When we showed these in the class room,
they had to do their presentation orally as they showed the Power Point
presentation on the computer to the class on the TV.
Later, when we were talking about it (evaluating the lesson), they admitted
that the hardest part about the entire project was having to talk in front
of their peers. They highly recommended this lesson for all other classes.
They felt they learned a lot.
