I am the resident "lurker" on the list....I have been enjoying many of
the recent threads, especially those regarding organization! I have
printed out so many of your wonderful ideas, lesson plans etc.

I am planning my annual Artsfest for March (Youth Arts Month.) I would
like my theme this year to center around Arts and Literacy. I have an
artist friend who is a bookmaker, she does incredible works of art. I'd
like to involve her in projects, and concentrate on promoting the arts
as a valid and necessary element of education. Does anyone have any
other ideas on how to promote this theme? Any lesson plan ideas? I have
a few already, but would love some input from you!

Also- I found a WONDERFUL Fred Babb calendar!! You know the
hats/t-shirts that have slogans such as "Art is one of the few things
left worth doing." He has a whole calendar full of such wonderful
sayings as "Art is the physician, vision is the prescription" and "Art
can take you places" and "Get Smart! Make Art!" The images are bold
and colorful, and my elementary kids love them. I have plastered them
all over my room. I bought the calendar at Books-a-Million, and it is
available at Amazon.com for about $14. What a deal for 12 great
posters...
