Hi, I am looking for information about the personification of animals in
african culture. A story or folktale that describes animals with human
characteristics or qualities. Does this information even exist?

In other cultures like the Chinese and Native Anerican, animals are
believed to hold certain powers. I hope this is making sense. I have
tried an internet search, but no luck.

Hello Amanda -

I don't have the answer to your question but something that may be of use
to you:
There is a book called Why Mosquitoes Buzz In Peoples Ears. I don't know the
author but I'm sure you can get it in your Library (Caldecott Medal winner.)
It is an African Folk Tale which personifies animals & explains the why of
something in nature. You could also look into African Folktales. Bill
