When I had a color blind student I encouraged him to paint what he saw. I
thought it would be very interesting to see the world from his color blind
perspective and told him so. He was very reluctant to do so and wound up
asking others at his table about color.
I would encourage your student to use the colors he or she knows and paint it
like they see it instead of faking it.
