hs students who do nada.....

Thanks for all the encouragement regarding my "ineleigible" student.

Believe it or not, she came up to my desk and apologized to me the next
morning. I think Mom had a heart to heart talk. She was all business that
day in class for the 1st time!

Scored the portfolio that evening (while she sat out another game). She had a
"D" grade as a result of her late points. Put it into my "magic" computer
grade program and WHAMMO - out popped another "F" (54%)

I quickly put in the points she would have gotten if she had been on time and
it inched up to a 57% - still an "F." Spent today informing the AD, coach,
principal (cover my butt...) and finally the student herself. Hopefully, she
has gotten the message that the stuff I assign AND her attitude counts for
something.

I can only hope that she continues to be all business and gets the grade up
before the semester ends on the 28th....

Sigh.....middle school is SO much easier.....
