No hard feelings at all -
However creative a person is, if they have no skills (or
opportunities-assignments)with which to make that creativity visible it
makes convincing people they're an artist pretty tough. When there is a
limited number of slots for a class, that reality hits hard. My own grad art
school experience made it clear to me I'd made the right choice (for me) by
going university instead of art school. Not one of my
east-coast-art-school-product classmates graduated with an MFA - they all
"dropped out" with the MA, if they got that far. I know that may be a fluke,
but I am forever grateful for my liberal arts education.
