I agree, that a good foundation in the skills of drawing and the use of
materials and techniques will help the student later. Concept art is very
good and requires imagination, however the imagination is limited if the basic
skills of drawing and/or different media are limited. Many student have come
back to me to thank me for their foundation so that college was a better
experience.
