Coming to class early!

I had an idea and it seems to be working. To get my high school
students to class on time, I decided to have them draw a 3 minute
sketch of whatever subject I chose for the day. For example, today
they had to draw my desk area. The kicker is that their 3 minutes
begins as soon as the bell rings. So they have to get to class early
to get their sketchbooks and pencils ready. I even have students
coming early because they want to sneak in a few extra minutes of
drawing time, because, "3 minutes is not enough time." I am having
them practice their drawing skills everyday and they are here on time.
What more could I ask for? OK, a bigger budget, but I was talking
about reality, not fantasy. C.
