Framing Student Prints

Has anyone ever hung student artwork in their building with professional
frames? I don't mean prints matted on construction paper and then
stapled to a cork board. I am planning on getting frames at garage sales
and refinishing/repainting them. Were your frames wood or metal? Does it
matter? What did you do so the prints would not fall of the wall when
children touched them?
