Post Modernism Fog

Modern art is very foggy to me, also. I
would like to understand it better. I am
currently taking late twentieth century art, but
the language used to describe it is far from
concise. It seems that the writers on the subject
talk on and on to avoid ever coming to a point.
Mine is, could you (anyone out there) share
something about what Post Modernism, Modernism and
Avant Garde mean to the art world? ... to you?
