Try watching Sunday Morning, the CBS newsmagazine show. Their logo is a
sun and each week they feature suns made by kids and professional artists.
I've always enjoyed them.

You might also look through some clip art books or computer clip art
software. I recently did a logo and the client wanted a sun as the
central motif so I went looking for unusual suns and found zillions.
