Hi. I am A studio potter and teacher of art. I have experience with young clay workers(middle school) as well as older students. I would suggest looking into a Brent or perhaps a Shimpo wheel. I'm sure that either of these wheels would meet your students needs . A kick wheel is always an option but I have found that it's easier for the beginning student to learn on a good electric wheel. There's just less to remember and they can concentrate on the sizeable tack of learning the mechanics of making pots. Good luck!
