Robert Beeching continues to remind us of the abysmal state of arts
education in California, the Getty's "backyard". I would be interested in
hearing why the Getty is not pushing at the state level for reform in arts
education. Could it be...those So.Cal Republicans are in bed together...?
I wonder why, in the push for a longer school year and more minutes in the
school day, the "Education Governor" has not looked to other models where
specialists - art, music, PE - are hired to lengthen the school day. That
way, no one thinks to complain that time for arts is taken away from
"basics", and classroom teachers do not extend their duty day. I doubt that
parents will complain that their kids are in school longer!
