SPECIAL EXHIBITION
The Sleep of Reason: GoyaÕs "Los Caprichos"
January 30 - March 29, 1998
In 1799, Francisco Goya made public his first major print series, Los
Caprichos. Renowned today for their ambiguity and deeply satirical tone,
these eighty etchings with aquatint remain among the most complex and
intriguing works in the oeuvre of this remarkable artist.
This first edition series is from the permanent collection of the museum.
