Your letter accurately points out the many vagueries of the credential
process. The end product of all that beauracracy is good teachers not
certified to teach and bad teachers (who make it through the process)
allowed to teach. Yhere must be a better was for college educated, mid
carreer professionals to enter the teaching profession without having to
return to college full time. This goes for people in other fields - math,
science, etc. who want to change carreers and become teachers. These people
bring so much extra to the classroom than do many 22 year old first-timers.
