I want to share with you a way I have been able to promote art in our
school this past year. I started a new "exploratory" class that we design
tessellations in as part of the curriculum. The students are then able to
choose the tessellation they like best and we have been sending them to a
company called Art to Remember. This company permanently transfers their
tessellations to a choice of products. The art work would NOT have to be a
tessellation but could be any drawing or painting the students have
created. The choice to have the art work put on an object is entirely up to
the individual student. I send a letter home and tell the parents about the
opportunity and that it will not affect the students grade whether they
choose to participate or not. So far, about seventy -five percent of my
students have choosen to participate. I send their art work to the company
and it is put on the following choices; sweat shirts, T-shirts. mousepads,
large magnets, golf towels, calendars, work aprons, and stationery. The
cost is very reasonable and the results have been delightful!
The part I like best is all the wonderful free publicity we have been
getting throughout the school. The kids, parents, teacher, and even the
administration has been impressed with the results. The kids show their art
objects to everyone! When I receive the package with their art work in it
even the secretaries in the office ask me to open it right then so they can
see the results.
I am receiving NO compensation for telling you about this! Just in case
someone might think that. However, I did want to share this with all of
you. The president of the company is Don Brackney and he is a very pleasant
man! His phone number is (800) -895-8777. The fax is (317) 823-2822.
